WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Madelyn was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in June of 2018 (6 days after her 5th birthday), prior to her diagnosis she was hospitalized for a month at the Boston Children's Hospital fighting for her life against the wrath of the flu, pneumonia, Epstein Barre Virus and a blood infection.

We talk a lot about "fighting" cancer.  What does "fighting" cancer mean for Madelyn?  Weekly Chemo Therapy; Loss of hair, Anaphylactic shock to a chemo drug that required Madelyn to receive 4 shots a week for 30 weeks; 12 lumbar punctures all under general anesthesia; 4 bone marrow biopsies; at least 5 hospitalizations; Madelyn suffers from loss of appetite, painful neuropathy; Madelyn currently has lost feeling in both her feet;  at times chronic fatigue, nausea; Socially Madelyn missed approximately 130 days of school and was either not well enough for social fun with friends or was at high risk for infection.  Notwithstanding all she has gone through- Madelyn keeps a smile on her face and plows through it all- she is a true super hero, she is our warrior princess.  Please consider joining Team Madelyn....and/or donate to this cause.

By participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, our team is making every step count toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!

Your support goes directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate care.
