WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Our 10 month old son, William, was diagnosed with Stage IV Hepatoblastoma on January 17th, 2018.  William endured multiple surgeries and numerous rounds of chemotherapy and in August of 2018 was declared in remission.  William was given a chance to return to life as a normal toddler. We enjoyed the last year by taking advantage of William's health- trips to the beach, adventures at the park, riding the bike around the neighborhood, and so many other typical toddler activities. We loved every second of this last year.

But then on August 7 of this year, we returned to Dana-Farber for William's one year scans and were given the devastating news that William's cancer has returned. It is unfair that William has to endure this terrible battle for a second time and we know that this battle will be difficult, but we remain hopeful and that's because of Dana-Farber.

Hepatoblastoma is a rare cancer and incredible strides have been made over the last decade to improve the Hepatoblastoma success rate thanks to the research made at Dana-Farber, but we need to do more. We need to continue to fight until there is a cure for William and all children battling pediatric cancer.

So that is why we are here. We are walking to help raise funds that will support the important research being done to help children like William. We walk for William, for William’s friends battling, and for those who will battle in the future. All children deserve a chance at a long, happy, and healthy life - so let’s get walking!
