WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

By participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, our team is making every step count toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!

September is OVARIAN CANCER MONTHso lace up your walking shoes and join or donate to the Ovarian Cancer Brigade on October 4th in the 32nd Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Be a part of the great strides in progress to overcome this dreaded disease. We’ve raised OVER $500K in the past 9 years and this October we hope to reach $575K!

Each year, approximately 22,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the United States and about 15,000 American women die from the disease. These numbers are underscored by the sobering fact that currently there is no reliable screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer. The majority of cases (81%) are not diagnosed until the disease is advanced, at which time a woman's survival is significantly compromised. A woman's lifetime risk of developing ovarian cancer is 1 in 71 and the risk of dying from this disease is 1 in 95. OVARIAN CANCER BRIGADE'Sgoal is to raise $60K for research which will be directed to The Dr. Ursula Matulonis Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Matulonis is dedicated to research, early detection, quality of life and ultimately and ideally-- a cure for ovarian cancer which if caught early enough is a highly treatable disease.

We are walking for those we have lost and those that are currently fighting the battle. Ovarian cancer strikes only women, but it’s everyone’s battle.
