I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
When I was 8 years old, the older woman who lived across the street from me had cancer. I still recall my mom sitting with her when she was feeling very ill and that dad and I drove her to her many appts .
When I was 24 years old, I watched my dad clutching his stomach and doubled over in pain on the day of my sister’s wedding. In less than 12 months he died of stomach cancer and esophageal cancer.
I was working here at DFCI Milford for only 12 months when a patient I had connected with died. I thought I was ok, as I was aware it would happen soon, yet I still found myself in tears, hiding by the photocopier.
And, Less than 2 years ago, my brother was diagnosed with Prostate CA………and so it goes…..
Surely we all have been touched by cancer in one way or another, whether it be a relative, a friend, or that special patient we connect with. So, LACE UP YOUR SNEAKERS and walk with me!!!! Or, donate today!!
You will be so glad you did.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
