As many of you know, my mom is an Ovarian Cancer survivor. As summer fades away and we welcome Fall, we celebrate her 12 (!!!!) years of remission. In addition to celebrating my mom, the timing of the walk, also falls around the anniversary of my dad's passing in September 2016. My dad has always been our family rock, and best cheerleader through tough times. He was my mom's #1 supporter. I know that no one will never fill those shoes, but I love that my mom and I started the tradition of participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk to make a difference. We walk to celebrate my mom and honor my dad. As this year's walk date creeps into early October, it is not lost on me that it falls on the weekend is on what would have been my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary.
I invite you to help me in one of three ways to help support these significant milestones:
1. Donate! See buttons to the right to help me reach my fundraising goal. Details are below on how the funds* are used.
2. Join our team! You know Team Heger Schultz always has a good time, and we welcome you to walk with us on October 4. While the walk is virtual this year, we still plan on walking at least a 5k. Plus, we all know my mom will go way beyond 3.5 miles as that is just her warm up!
3. I recognize it's been a difficult year. If you don't have the financial or mental capacity to support in the first two ways I've described, I welcome you to send us strength and well wishes during our walk. Even though we can't all be together to walk, we will be supporting each other virtually.
Stay well friends.
*When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
