2020 has been a year like no other. Life seems to have put on hold as we work through a pandemic, social injustices, and a lot more. However, cancer does not stop, and the need for funding has never been greater. While the Jimmy Fund Walk will be virtual this year, the Cindy Loo Crew will still be walking towards the ultimate finish line in mind: a world without cancer.
Last year, we raised over $27,000 to support the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology at Dana-Farber. Since we started walking - we have raised over $93,000! You guys - we are going to surpass $100K raised this year!!!!!
This tremendous accomplishment was made possible through all the generous support we received from so many of you. With this money, doctors in the Lowe Center are doing some pretty incredible things, like developing and conducting novel combination clinical trials, combining targeted therapies, immunotherapies, or targeted therapies with immunotherapies—to overcome or prevent drug resistance. These early stage clinical trials, many of which arise from scientific discoveries made by Lowe Center physician-scientists, are critical in ultimately changing the standard of care. It is with your help that clinical trials like this are possible. This year (as we did in 2019) – the first $5,000 we raise will support Dana-Farber’s Bereavement Program, and the remaining funds will support lung cancer research.
We walk in memory of Cindy Hogan, a wife, mother, sister-in-law, daughter, niece, aunt, friend, nurse. We miss her every single day.
This disease has impacted our family and friends in far too many ways, and it's with hope and determination that one day, we won't need to do the Walk anymore. Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated!
