With my team, Team Hope, I am once again participating in the 2024 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer. This will be my 15th year walking.
I walk for my husband, Pete, who has been a patient at Dana Farber for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma since September, 2017. He has an amazing team at DFCI, and we are so grateful for all they do for him and our family. We have learned firsthand the incredible work The Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute has done to change the odds for cancer patients and their families.
I walk in support of my sister-in-law, Kamdin, who is an ovarian cancer survivor. I also walk in support of Uncle Mike, Auntie Jeannie, Papa Sparrow, Margaret, Mike, Julianne.
I also walk in memory of my parents who both lost their battles with cancer, my dear friend, Dawn, who lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer in 2019, my aunt and godmother, Peggy, who lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer in 2020, my cousin, Chris, who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2019 and so many more family members and friends that have lost their battles.
I have become incredibly involved in this walk, and Team Hope has raised over $100,000.00 over the past 14 years. Walk day has become one of my favorite days of the year. Through this organization we have met so many people, whether they were part of the walk staff, walkers, or volunteers. I am truly proud of Team Hope and all we have accomplished.
