This will be my 25th year walking in the Jimmy Fund Walk. I walk in memory of my son, Jason, and in honor and in memory of so many others. Jason was my oldest of five children. He was a very special child who cared more about others than himself. His love for his younger siblings and cousins was amazing. Sadly, at the age of 12, on August 15, 1994, Jason lost his battle with Neuroblastoma. I often wonder if the new treatments out today would have saved him.
I walk to keep Jason's memory alive and with the hopes that the money raised will prevent other parents from experiening the pain and heartache of losing a child. I also walk in honor of those who are fighting the battle and those who have lost their battle. My brother is currently being treated at Dana Farber and I lost my childhood friend, JoAnn, last year to breast cancer. Among so many others that I carry in my heart, I will also be thinking of my brother and JoAnn when I walk this year.
Over the years, I have seen the improvements of treatments and patient care given at Dana Farber. I know the money raised is going towards a good cause. Thank you for helping me in my efforts towards finding a cure.
