I am participating in the 2018 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
In February 2007 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer). At that time there were few treatments and no cure possible. The outlook was grim, but I sought a second opinion at Dana-Farber. I found specialists in my cancer there and have been under the care of the incredible Dr. Toni Choueiri for most of this time. Surviving for more than 11 years was unheard of when I was diagnosed. Thanks to clinical trials and research conducted at Dana-Farber and funded through money raised by The Walk and other Jimmy Fund events, prolonging life is becoming more common. But we still have the need for less toxic treatments and a cure. Those are two of the main reasons I walk. There are dozens more, but we must Conquer Cancer!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
