I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line of a world without cancer, and honoring my Dad's legacy.
Other doctors told my Dad and Mom that Dad's diagnosis, pancreatic cancer, stage II, meant he should settle his affairs because he wouldn't make it to Christmas. That was September 2012.
Dana-Farber gave my family and me 4.5 years, years we wouldn't have otherwise had, with my favorite person in the world. The doctors, nurses, and staff provided him with unparalleled treatment and care.
Dad offered cell samples to researchers and talked with medical students learning to take on cases like his. He did everything he could "so that no one else has to go through this." I will never stop carrying that mission with me. I have to believe that there will be a day when no one ever has to go through this again. And Dana-Farber's research will lead the charge.
A donation to my walk funds Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, I know that we can change the tides.
