I am participating in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
The Jimmy Fund Walk is very important to me since many of my family have been affected by cancer. The reasons I walk are 19 years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, 16 years ago, my husband Rick was diagnosed prostate cancer, and 12 years ago, my daughter Amy was diagnosed with leukemia. We are still here but I have close family members that did not survive cancer.
Dana-Farber was founded in 1947 by Sidney Farber, MD who pioneered therapies to treat children with leukemia and has continued 70+ years of research discovery and innovation that has revolutionized cancer diagnosis and treatment, for the benefit of all patients, adult and pediatric. They focus exclusively on cancer and related diseases.
When my daughter Amy was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, we went to Dana-Farber for her treatment. We didn’t know at the time that Dana-Farber was founded on developing treatments for leukemia, but we did know that it was the place to go for the best cancer treatments. The care she received from the entire Dana-Farber team was beyond any expectations we had. They treated the entire patient and family with their wide range of patient and family support services.
My goal this year is to raise $6,500. Please give what you can.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
