I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
When my Mom passed in 2010 I decided to keep her passion for the Jimmy Fund alive by walking and raising funds. This year will be my 8th year as a Pacesetter. Over the last decade I have walked in memory of and in support of many friends, family and colleagues. My most special walk was with my little friend Julia pictured above. I had walked in support of her the year before as she underwent treatments. The next year she and her family came to Boston from PA and we met at mile 25. We walked the last mile together and Julia took my hand as we crossed the finish line to an abundance of spectator cheering. I can still see her little face light up when they put the medal around her neck. For Julia, and her parents it was like an Olympic moment! Unfortunately, with a broken heart I did the next year's walk in Julia's memory. She will always be a part of every walk with me.
I dedicate my walk each year, and this year I do so in support of my lifetime friend Carol. Talk about courage and determination!! I love you my friend and am with you all the way!.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Please let me know if there is a name you would like me to add to my shirt on walk day September 22nd.
