On Sunday, September 22, I walked in my third Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. I joined thousands of other walkers who chose to walk a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon along the historic Boston Marathon route.
I challenged myself to walk the full route, 26. 2 miles, across my home state of Massachusetts. I left Hopkinton at 6 am and walked through the towns of Ashton, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton, Brookline and Brighton. Many hours later, I stepped across the finish line near the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Copley Square in downtown Boston. Because of the rising heat & humidity, I did hitch a ride from my Sherpa through the hills of Newton. My "fit bit" still tallied 22.69 miles.
Join me as we take steps toward the ultimate finish line--a world without cancer. When you make a gift to the 2019 Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve patients and their families.
Last year about 8500 walkers raised 8.5 million dollars! The numbers aren't in yet for this year and fundraising remains open through October 31, 2019.
I am proud to say that together with friends and family we raised $8119.86 for the two previous walks, making a 3 walk total over $10,700!
As a 9 year breast cancer survivor, I'm living proof that TOGETHER we CAN conquer cancer!
I thank you for your support, prayers and donations.
