On Sunday, October 4, I will walk in my fourth Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. Thousands of other walkers will choose to walk a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon along the historic Boston Marathon route.
Once again, I challenge myself to walk the full route, 26. 2 miles, across my home state of Massachusetts. From Hopkinton, at the crack of dawn, the Walk continues through the towns of Ashton, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton (hills!), Brookline and Brighton. After many hours, I expect to be at the finish line in Boston, at Copley Square, near Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Ten-Four, over and out!
The Walk is sponsored by Hyundai and walkers receive stickers at each of the thirteen “water stops” along the way. I have 39 stickers so far and jokingly ask how many I need to collect to earn a car!
Please, join me as we take steps toward the ultimate finish line--a world without cancer. When you make a gift to the 2020 Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve patients and their families.
Last year about 8500 walkers raised 8.5 million dollars!
I thank you for your support, prayers and donations as I train for my 4th Jimmy Fund Walk. I am proud to say that together with friends and family we raised $10,784.23 for the three previous walks.
As a 10 year breast cancer survivor, I'm living proof that TOGETHER we CAN conquer cancer!
