This year marks my 5th year participating in the Jimmy Fund Marathon Walk. I started by walking in honor of my Mom, Shirley Swan, who died of pancreatic cancer at the young age of 49. With each successive year more of my family and friends are impacted by this this terrible disease. 26.2 miles is nothing compared to what they have gone through. I will walk until there is a cure, I will walk until we have great care for those in treatment, I will walk until . . . .
This year I will be joined by my friends from CrossFit Protype and Barbell Club. We call ourselves the Prototype Cancer Crushers. Please consider making a contribution to any member of the team. I am honored they decided to join me this year!
As in previous years, anyone who makes a donation to my walk will be entered to win a hand knit afghan. My Mom taught me to knit when I was only 8 years old and now my daughter knits as well! It is one of many ways I stay connected to my memory of Mom. This years afghan is a lovely reversible green wool blend, soft to the touch and machine washable. You don't want to miss the opportunity to be the recipient of this one.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
