I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way ; my first walk was in 1996.
If you are donating to me for the walk, all 26.2 miles, you probably know my story. My father died from bladder cancer in 1994 and my mother passed away in 2015 from mantle cell lymphoma. I have also lost other family members, as well as friends and colleagues. Just like most of you, I have been touched by cancer, watching people beat it and be survivors, and losing so many I loved.
This year, I will be walking the full 26.2 miles in the Saco/Ocean Park/ Scarboro Maine area. I have already mapped my route, knowing the places where I can make necessary pit stops. :) It will certainly be different, but it will be the same 52,000 thousand plus steps that I would be taking if it was the actual Boston Marathon and my reasons are the same as all the previous years, to one day cure cancer.
Until that day, I will gladly walk the 26.2 miles and hope that you will help me in this fight.
