This will be my 15th year participating in the Boston marathon Jimmy Fund walk. In that 15 years I have raised over $20,000 dollars and my team has raised over $100,000 for Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I couldn’t have done that without each and every donation, it all adds up and every little bit helps.
In those 15 years I have watched those I know and love battle this horrible disease. I have seen hard fights won and too many harder fights lost, and it plain and simple is awful.
I am lucky to be able to call my father a cancer survivor. Seven years ago he was treated with a stem cell transplant from an amazing donor (now good friend). Dana-Farber has given my family seven years with my dad that we would not have had without the care he received. That’s seven years of birthdays, holidays, vacations..., quality time with his grandsons, and everyday moments that one normally takes for granted.
I am forever grateful for this additional time we’ve had with him, and I walk so that one day, no one will have to lose the fight with cancer and be taken away from all that love them so dearly.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
