Hello! I am James Boucher. I have been walking the Jimmy Fund Walk for a long time now. For the 6th straight year, I will be doing the 13.1 mile route, as part of our new team, Mike's Walkin' Wailers. We named our team after Bob Marley and the Wailers because we love to listen to "Three Little Birds."
This year's walk is on the 22nd. This happens to be my Dad's 52nd birthday. Our team will be full of friends and family members. To join the team and walk with us, just cick the link "Join My Team" here on my page. Our team goal is $10,000, with all funds raised going to the Dana Farber Leukemia and Lymphoma group.
If you want to walk, but can't make it that day or live far away, you can be what's called a Virtual Walker. Register, and tell your friends and family! You can even walk in your neighborhood!
This year is more personal for us, not just because it is his birthday, but this February he was diagnosed with lymphoma due to Richter's transformation, which is when the leukemia causes lymphoma too. With two cancers, it has been harder on everyone. On a good note, he is showing no signs of leukemia, and it is mainly the lymphoma he is fighting now.
A friend of ours died when I was very young due to a brain tumor. We walked for her for at first. then, when my dad was diagnosed, we started walking for both of them. We cross the finish line saying "Doing it for a friend, doing it for our Dad!"
My goal is $1,500 because I want to be a pacesetter. I've been a pacesetter, thanks to your generosity, for every walk I've done for my dad. I am no longer able to be a young pacesetter, so my fundraising goal is high! But with your help, I know I can reach it! (To be a pacesetter, I have to reach at least $1,500!)
