On Sunday, October 4th, Betty McEnaney and I will again strive to complete the 26.2 miles of a marathon. Because of COVID, the Walk this year will be virtual, so Betty and I will choose our own route. Wherever we are, we will walk in memory and hope.
“No one fights alone!” That slogan is on the bracelet given to me by a cancer survivor friend more than five years ago, and I still wear it every day to remind me why I do this. I am grateful for those of you who take a virtual walk with me each year and support the Jimmy Fund. We know our dollars help to fund the incredible patient treatment and research efforts of Dana-Farber. In the midst of COVID, we hope you will still be able to support us.
I walk for so many, and each year the list on my t-shirt continues to grow. In 2011, there were about 100 names—this year there will be more than 750. i know when i walk, they all "have my back." I walk in honor and memory, in hope and gratitude for all that Dana-Farber has meant to so many including several of my close friends and colleagues.
Each year I hope one of our dollars will be the one that ends the need for the list. Won’t you consider a gift this year?
