WHY I'M FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Last September, I met Travis and his wife Julie at the Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon walk. The captains of #TeamWolverine adopted me, and I became fast friends with them, especially Travis' sister Courtney. On the night of February 5th, Travis left this world after fighting brain cancer for over two years. As Julie told us, he was surrounded by herself and their cats with no extra space, listening to Johnny Cash. He was surrounded by love.

This year Courtney and I are walking 26.2 miles together for Travis. I am walking for my own family and friends who have been affected by cancer. My children and I never got the chance to meet their grandfather Bob, who passed away from rhabdomyosarcoma. My dad's brother Bobby passed away from brain cancer. It hurts my heart. I literally fell to my knees and cried when Courtney told me about Travis passing. No one should have to lose a family member or a friend in the prime of their lives.

Cancer brings us to our knees. But we get up and we fight. We band together. We raise money for cancer treatment and research for a cure. Will you help us? If you donate, please let us know if you are donating in memory or in honor of someone so we can make a ribbon for our banner. Thank you.
