For the 21st consecutive year, members of John's Team will be participating in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on October 4th. Although our team has significantly fewer walkers than our initial team of 113, our commitment hasn’t diminished. Over the years, people have asked why we walk instead of just writing a check and I suppose that every walker has his or her own reasons. For me, it’s a way to honor and thank the staff at Dana-Farber for the care provided to John over 8 ½ years. For me, it’s a way of showing support for other cancer patients and their families and friends, because cancer is too big a battle to fight alone. For me, it provides time to remember the good and not so good days, to remember the patients and families that we met along the way and to remember the connections we made, and still have, with so many doctors, nurses and support staff at the Jimmy Fund and Children’s Hospital.
