I am very grateful to be able to participate in the Walk again with Team Perini, to benefit The Perini Survivors Center at the Dana-Farber. While this year's event will look a little different, I am still very much walking and I hope you will consider supporting me.
Started by my parents David and Eileen Perini when my brother David died in 1990 after a long battle with pediatric cancer, the Perini Clinic has led the field of survivorship, first with the pediatric-focused David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Clinic, and more recently through the Adult Survivorship Program. Led by Lisa Diller, MD and Ann Partridge, MD, MPH, the Perini Center works to ensure that today’s growing population of cancer survivors live longer, healthier lives. More information about the Perini Center can be accessed at www.dana-farber.org/PeriniCenter.
There are few people in this world who have not been touched by cancer, whether through their own diagnosis or that of someone they care about. As cancer treatment continues to improve, there will be more cancer survivors, many of whom face a host of physical and/or psychosocial issues in the aftermath of their recovery. I hope you will help me to help them, in truly putting the effects of their cancer behind them.
