WHY I'M FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER
I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk taking steps toward a world without cancer! Thirty years ago I spent several days on the couch after getting my wisdom teeth out with my dad, who was home from work with some funky cold that was kicking his butt. Fast forward a couple months and that lingering cough was diagnosed as lung cancer, the kind you hear about during daytime legal commercials. Secondhand asbestos exposure had been festering in my dad's lungs for over 40 years. Within 9 months of diagnosis, my dad was gone. I had just turned 19 years old and was a freshman at PC. At 45, my mom was a widow and had 5 kids to continue to raise. I took a leave of absence to be home with my mom. I worked full time and later that year, I participated in my first Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Participating in this beautiful walk every fall is inspiring and moving.
When you make a gift to my walk, you're directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
My fundraising goal is $3,000 and I know I can crush that goal like I have the past several years thanks to all of you!! Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
