I am participating in my fifth Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
As always I walk in memory of my boyfriend Nick who died in 2016 after a six-year battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma. He was given a heavy task in his life: to always chose bravery despite feeling enormous amounts of fear.
Despite that fear he always chose laughter, positivity, and to keep fighting. Courage was a little harder to come by with all that this year+ has thrown our way. I can't imagine the current patients at Dana Farber and The Jimmy Fund are feeling--cancer is scary enough without a global pandemic!
However, no matter how difficult life may seem, where there is life there is hope. Both of which can be found at The Jimmy Fund Clinic and along the marathon route.
I am honored to walk for Nick and for others who are dearly missed, alongside all who are working towards a cure together. Until we find that cure, we will keep fighting, keep running, keep walking. So let’s get going!
Every bit counts towards providing the resources necessary to keep cancer patients safe. When you make a gift to my walk, you’re supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Your donation will go directly towards protective equipment and procedures, preventing infection, offsetting the cost of implementing telemedicine technology, and helping to relieve pressing financial strains felt by patients, their families, and caregivers.
