On September 23, I will lace up my sneakers to walk along the world-famous Boston Marathon® course in the 30th annual Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai. This will be my 5th Walk as a member of Team GI, raising funds specifically to research in GI cancers.
I've committed to raise at least $2500. I’ve set my goal high because I know the money raised by the Jimmy Fund Walk’s top fundraisers, a group known as Pacesetters, is crucial to the innovative cancer research and exceptional patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
I walk for my current patients, whose bravery, courage and strength I witness every day. I walk for my mom, who is a 12 year lymphoma cancer survivor. I walk for my mother-in-law who passed away nearly 2 years ago from lung cancer. Finally, I walk for my patients who did not survive this horrible disease and who I feel we all have an obligation to do better for the next patient with these diseases.
It's easy to have an impact on this important and universal cause
