On November 24, 2017 our then 10 year old grandson, Graham, was tragically diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, brain cancer. In a single moment his precious childhood was robbed from him and our whole family was devastated. I have cried a river of tears over these past 9 months, enduring this horrid roller coaster ride that has been an endless nightmare. As a Grandmother I have never felt so helpless even though we do as much as we can to help out. When I learned of the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk I felt like I could make a difference by taking a very long walk, raising awareness and money to help fund scientific research and innovation.I am a strong believer in science and I know Graham has benefitted from the wealth of knowledge at Dana Farber tackling his difficult diagnosis and aggressive treatment. The Jimmy Fund Clinic has been comprehensive, compassionate and caring treating Graham during all of his different cycles of therapy and they have helped our son, Kyle, his wife, Emily and our granddaughter, Meg, navigate every step of the way up this rocky road.
I am participating in the 2018 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
I am walking to honor 11 year old Graham for his courage, strength and endurance and for Kyle and Emily's constant steadfast caregiving and advocacy. I am doing my part to help conquer this disease and with your help, we can move closer to the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.
