Six weeks ago my beautiful, vibrant, loving mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. She was a strong, healthy, and amazing person and our goal was to get through the surgery and get her into treatments. We then learned that the cancer and metastasized to her liver and we sprung into action. We were determined to get her stronger and started on the chemo treatment she so desperately needed to fight this disease that was ravaging her body. We were convinced she could beat this and live to see her ultimate goal of seeing her grandchildren get married and for her to become a great-grandmother.
Unfortunately on February 18, 2020 my mom - Joan Frommer Bloom - lost her battle. In her final days she was surrounded by her loving family who showered her in love and admiration. We are determined to take this tragedy and turn it into positive energy to honor my mom and other family members and friends who are fighting this terrible disease and those that have also lost their battles.
On October 4th, Joan family and friends will participate in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk to take steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer. When you make a gift to our walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for helping us to keep Joan's memory alive and ultimately help conquer cancer!
