The love of my life, my husband Terry, was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, even though he has never been a smoker. Unfortunately, the cancer is in both lungs. At this point, it is not curable, but it is treatable. He is currently receiving treatment at the Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta (Maine), near our home. We are hoping that this treatment will keep the cancer from spreading and will help to alleviate his symptoms. It’s going to be tough, but he is tough. And strong.
In honor of his strength, I am planning to once again participate in the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund Marathon Walk. But this year, I’m doing things a little differently. Rather than walk 26.2 miles (a marathon) on a given date, I am going to walk at least 262 miles (the equivalent of 10 marathons) over the next three months (September through November). If he can go through what he’s going through, I can surely do at least this much.
And now, here’s the ask. Please consider making a donation to my fundraising effort for Dana Farber, to help find a cure for cancer and bring an end to this terrible disease. Any amount will help ….. but as an added incentive, if you donate $100 or more, you will receive a free Team Terry t-shirt (while supplies last). The logo on the front of the shirt says “OTF” - because he is One Tough Fellow. And damn, I love him.
