After my daughter, Alexa, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010, I formed a team to walk in her honor. She had a battle to fight and this was the least I could do (walk for her and all the children battling cancer). Two grueling years later, she showed everyone around her who was the boss when it came to cancer. She kicked cancers ass and at the young age of 7 she was a cancer survivor. And if you know her she did it with a smile. Seeing what my daughter went through at such a young age and how she handled herself during her treatment, inspires me to walk. Going to the Jimmy Fund for her 2 year treatment changes you forever, but in a good way. It is a remarkable place full of promise and hope. I will be forever grateful to all the nurses and doctors at the Jimmy Fund that helped save Alexa. This is my way of giving back to them.
After taking a few years off from walking (no excuses are good enough), Alexa told me to sign us up for the walk. How could I not? She is forever my inspiration and am so looking forward to walking this walk with her.
Please consider joining or donating to our team. The more the merrier. I promise you will be forever inspired by this walk. No one especially a child should undergo what these children do. My hope is that this terrible disease will come to an end.
Thank you for supporting us and together one step at a time we can beat cancer.
Live, Laugh, Love Alexa
