Its hard to believe that it has almost been 3 years since my beloved husband, Edward, passed away from anaplastic thyroid cancer. He was the love of my life and my best friend and I miss him every single day.
I’m walking in the Jimmy Fund walk this year, my third year, to honor him and to raise funds to support the continuing research of Dr. Jochen Lorch, Edward’s oncologist, who along with his amazing team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute Head and Neck Team became part of our family. Edward’s original prognosis was 3-6 months, and Dr. Lorch and his team gave us almost 5 years. I’m walking to somehow in my own small way contribute towards fighting the hideous beast that is cancer, so that fewer and fewer people have to endure the heartbreak that our family and friends have.
This year the walk will be held virtually on Sunday October 4, that is instead of thousands of us walking the Boston Marathon course, we will each be walking locally, following our own path. Much has changed this year, but the battle to fight cancer can not stop or falter. Friends and family will be joining me as we walk the local roads and woodland trails near our home that our family have enjoyed for many years. Please support me as generously as you feel led.
