I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk this year in honor of Corinne Sciarappa. I have known Corinne and her Mom Pauline and her brother Luke and Dad Ken, since before she was born. She is my inspiration to walk and raise money so this terrible disease, Aveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma can be cured for every child or person. The walk- Team Sciarappa Strong is directing all donations specifically to support research on Aveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
During Corinne's celebration of life service her Oncologist said when he first met Corinne she was crying in her bed in the hospital and he thought it was because she was a young girl of 14 who was just diagnosed with this difficult cancer...he asked her why she was crying and she said " look at all these babies and young children ..they shouldn't have to be so sick , they shouldn't have to have cancer." She was crying for the other kids she saw....this was Corinne....A brilliant, creative, kind soul who was worried for others. She also fiercely loved animals and never met a dog she didn't like. She did an internship at Dana-Farber and graduated from High school all while enduring intense chemotherapy and having difficult side effects ...she preserved and kept her life as normal as she could,..., she carried on. I am walking because I want to carry a piece of Corinne with me in my heart and remember how strong and amazing she was.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re helping to provide funds to research Aveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma so Dana-farber can continue this fight.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
