When my husband, Tim, was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, Dana Farber was there to thoughtfully guide us through our options. This guidance was a pivotal part of our journey. Tim beat the odds to live a full life for almost two years after his diagnosis. He even golfed 100 times the year before he passed. Six years later, he is still missed as a husband, father, brother, and friend.
I couldn't change the outcome of Tim's disease so I decided to wage hope in his memory by walking the Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon Walk the year he passed.
My first walk led to meeting new friends and together creating a walk team, Purple Striders, that has grown stronger every year. This year will be my 7th walk, and I am humbled by the support of so many team members, donors, and contributors. The future is brighter because we continue to wage hope.
