Each year I’ve participated in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, supporting cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, for my friend, Liz Acaba. Liz passed away last October, not long after she greeted us at the finish line of the Walk on that hot and brilliantly sunny day in Copley Square on September 22. Hers was a long and valiant fight again Neuroendocrine Tumor Cancer.
We continue to show up for Liz, whether we are together for the walk on October 4, or taking part virtually, because the need for a cure for cancer hasn’t diminished, even in the face of COVID-19. The love and support given to Liz by her family and friends, many of whom come from out of state, is heartwarming. We share a friendship and spirit, thanks to Liz. Last year our team, the Zebra Divas, raised over $20,000 and brought our six-year total to more than $100,000 to conquer the disease.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
