This year - for the first time - I am participating in the 2018 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
Team WEEI is walking for our amazing team hero - Layla Krieger. She was diagnosed last Thanksgiving at 19 months old with Stage 4 neuroblastoma. She has battled her disease in and out of the hospital since then. In 1990, Layla would have had a 15% chance of beating this Cancer. Now, with advancements in treatment, her outlook is very positive!
Being part of the Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon - I have heard first-hand from patients and their families the amazing work being done at Dana Farber. And I've seen the smiles that Lisa Scherber and her team have put on the faces of those patients - like Layla - and their families at the Jimmy Fund Clinic.
Events like the Christmas Party, Pig Party and the annual trip to Red Sox Spring Training are just a few of the highlights of their work!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
