The Andrew H. Weinberg Memorial Fund At the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Team Andrew Weinberg Boston Marathon JIMMY FUND WALK The 25th year walking!!!

Despite major therapeutic advancements in pediatric cancer care over the last several decades, cancer remains one of the most common causes of childhood death.  In 1994, I experienced the anguish of having my son Andrew diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of muscle tumor.  Despite aggressive treatment at Dana-Farber, he passed away shortly before his third birthday.

With the generous support of family and friends, the Medicinal Chemistry Group of the Northeastern section of the American Chemical Society and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a fund was created in 1995 and endowed in 2001.  The Andrew H. Weinberg Memorial Endowment Fund supports an annual Symposium that brings researchers together from the field of chemotherapy development with those in the biomedical research and clinical care communities at large, helping to foster an environment for synergy and originality in cancer research.

For this year’s annual symposium on Thursday September 6th we are delighted to welcome:

Nada Jabado, M.D., Ph.D.,Professor of Pediatrics and Human Genetics, McGill University,The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center, Montreal, QC, Canada presenting the 22nd Andrew H. Weinberg Memorial Lecture on at 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

The symposium is primarily funded through Jimmy Fund Walk donations dedicated to Team Andrew Weinberg.  Since 1994, a committed group has together walked thousands of miles in support of this symposium and to symbolically march in the battle against childhood cancer.  To ensure this important annual event continues, Team Andrew Weinberg seeks your financial support.  Would you please consider making a donation to our Team’s efforts?  Your generosity is sincerely and deeply appreciated far beyond mere words, written or spoken.

Thank you in advance for the generous and timely support you are able to provide.  Please join us on September 23th so that we, as a team, can personally convey our utmost gratitude.

Compassionately yours,

James S Weinberg
