Bela and I will be walking in the Jimmy Fund Walk in honor of our friend Nixon Clarke. Nixon is an amazing 7 year old little boy, with the fight and spirit beyond his years. In November 2017, Nixon, who was five at the time, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). This beautiful, fun loving 5 year old went from a ski run in Vermont to his first dose of chemotherapy, in a matter of hours. Over the past year and half, I have learned more about white blood cell counts, platelets, and neutrophils than I ever thought I would. I have watched Nixon’s Mom and Dad (and big brother Hamilton) push through days that no family should need to experience. Through it all, the Jimmy Fund was supporting our friends and thankfully, Nixon is doing well, and in his second phase of treatment. Whether through education, guidance or support, I can’t count the number of times I heard Karen refer to the “Jimmy Fund”. So, we walk to support the research that will conquer this awful disease, in hopes that families do not need to suffer through cancer like our dear friends, the Clarke’s. Please consider supporting us, every cent counts and is greatly appreciated.
