I am participating in the 2018 Boston Marathon(R) Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
In December 2016 one of my college roomates, Gina Sweeney Gatter lost her battle with liver cancer after only being diagnosed the previous Labor Day weekend.. Some of my college friends and I have joined Team Gina to walk 13.1 miles in Gina's memory.
As many of you know, I battled cancer (including a recurrence) back in 2011 and 2012. Shortly after I finished the last of my chemo treatments, my mother was diagnosed with liver cancer and lost that fight in 2014. An extremely close family friend (Lois McTague) lost her battle back in 2008. Cancer has also taken a grandfather and cousin.
Too many of us have been touched by cancer. Just imagine a world where no one would have to wage war with this awful disease. Together we can fight this deadly disease and beat it!!
When you make a gift to my walk, you're directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
