I am walking for the 21st year in memory of my sister Katie.
The Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund continues to provide teens with cancer educational financial assistance. Since establishing the Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund back in 2002, 192 scholarships have been awarded to graduating high school students treated for cancer at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. We have had the good fortune of awarding $1,500 scholarships each year due to your generous donations. Once again, we thank our families, friends, neighbors, and corporate matching donations that make this possible. Please be assured that 100% of donations are directed to the Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund and are tax-deductible.
KATIE’S VISION – Katie was high achieving both academically and athletically as a high school junior. Katie was focused on her college prep coursework needed for a future major in Communications. All her hopes and
dreams were put on hold when she received a diagnosis of ALL leukemia in November 1997. Katie spent much of the next 4.5 years of illness as an inpatient at Children’s Hospital, Boston. Katie expressed frustration that she was too ill to qualify for any academic scholarships for college. Katie believed that having a scholarship fund would help relieve college financial burden and give graduating high school cancer patients recognition and hope for the future.
JOIN US! – We are back to our traditional in-person Jimmy Fund Walk on October 2, 2022, which is the Boston Marathon Course. Team Katie Bleck walkers will choose to walk 13 miles from Wellesley High School or 6 miles from Boston College. Both groups will meet at Boston College and will finish the JFW together at Copley Square. We welcome all new team members. We truly appreciate your continued thoughtfulness and generosity.
