Dear Family and Friends,
I’ve been coming around in early summer for the past 14 years asking for your support for my Pan-Massachusetts Challenge rides. Indeed, my doing so is so ingrained that some of you have reached out to ask why I hadn’t done so yet this year, which just blew me away!
The answer is that I cannot do a ride of that length this year. I took a spill back in February and busted up my shoulder – so I couldn’t train at all for a number of months and only recently have I been able to get back on my bike. Surgery is required to make it right, but I’m deferring (against doctor’s orders, I might add) it because the recovery would have compromised these precious months more than living with the injury has.
So, this year I’m walking instead of riding.
By that I mean, I am joining Team Diane and walking the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on September 23, 2018. From my past correspondence, you know that Team Diane’s sponsors are neck and neck with you all in support of Diane’s Fund, which has contributed over $600,000 to Dr. Matulonis’ work on ovarian cancer.
And, as you can see from the above picture of them on my front porch at our annual dinner following the walk last year, the walkers are a great bunch.
It will be my privilege and pleasure to walk with them, and I’m asking for your support.
As with my PMC rides, all funds I raise on my walk are earmarked for Diane’s Fund and I will match your sponsorship dollar for dollar. To contribute on-line, please click on the "Give" tab above. To contribute by check, please make it out to "Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk" and mail it to me at the address below.
Thank you for supporting me in the past and for your consideration of doing so again.
All my best to you and yours!
