I went for my annual check-up at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DCFI). As wonderful as it is to get a clean bill of health, I find it hard to sit in the waiting room and see all the patients going through their treatments. I know that while many of these people will survive, others will not.
Growing up, a childhood friend was diagnosed with Leukemia and very quickly passed away. For the longest time I associated the word Leukemia with death. Today there has been so much progress that many more people like me are surviving.
