I am participating in the 2023 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
Usually I start off by telling a story of someone I know who lost their battle to cancer. This year I will walk for those who have had a successful outcome from their cancer treatments. I raise money through your generous donations so research and care can improve each year.
I recently read an article that suggested the word cancer be removed from certain cancer types. The idea was that some cancers have such a high cure rate, why scare the patient with the word cancer. The treatment advances through research have been amazing. Today people survive certain types of cancers that years ago were thought to be a death sentence. When you make a donation to my walk, you’re directly supporting research and care that will hopefully help someone survive cancer. Let's celebrate those who have beaten this terrible disease.
Thank you for supporting my fundraising efforts. Together, we can help others survive! Barry
