Cancer has had a consequential impact on my family over the last eight years, taking the lives of my mother (Gail), aunt (Mary) and uncle (Richie). No sooner diagnosed, the disease took them away in what seemed like a split second.
The disease can be cruel. Unfortunately, if you are like me, you know someone in your family, a close friend or colleague who has faced their own personal battle with this disease. My father, Walt, was and is a success story – a 13-year cancer survivor.
I am hoping and praying for more triumphant stories like my father’s in the years to come, and that’s why I will once again join the Pink Barbarians and participate in the 2022 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk for Cancer. And I welcome your support as we tackle 13.1 miles on Oct. 2 to help rid the world of this terrible disease.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families. You can make a donation through my website.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
