On Sunday, October 1, I will participate for a 14th year in the Jimmy Fund Walk to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I continue to walk each year in loving memory of my dad, Larry Alexander, who received extensive treatment from Dana-Farber for a rare blood disorder until his death in November 2012.
This year, I will return to the Boston Marathon course in person for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. However, instead of walking the full 26.2 mile route as I have in previous years, I will be doing a shorter 5K route with a new walking buddy – my 4-month-old baby, Leo!
Leo is named both for my dad, Larry, and for my husband Sam’s mom, Lindy. My dad would have been overjoyed to be a part of Leo’s life, and the most doting grandfather. Having Leo with me for this year’s walk will make it even more meaningful. My dad’s legacy is strong!
I hope you will join me in making a gift to this phenomenal institution in memory of my dad, and in honor of others affected by cancer.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. It means so much to me and my family.
