Like too many people, cancer has touched my life in too many ways. It took the lives of both of my Grandfathers before I had ever met them, and the lives of two of my dearest Aunts and my Godmother. My Father lived with the weight of Prostate Cancer hanging over his head for many years. My mother-in-law had a battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. I too have had cancer- Melanoma but fortunately caught it very early.
Many of my friends have lost their parents and, worst of all, children to cancer. Recently a coworker, who left his beautiful wife and two young children to wonder why this disease had taken their loved one. And just within the past few weeks a dear friend I've loved since we met in kindergarten has entered the ring to fight with this menace. Learning of her upcoming battle, which she will no doubt win, reminded me that I have sat passively for too long in helping to contribute in someway in finding a cure. Luckily I was able to join a friend's wonderful team who has been raising monies for several years towards conquering the many forms of this disease.
So, I am happy to tell you that I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer, and I'm also proud to ask for your support!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
