I am registering for my 5th consecutive Jimmy Fund Walk and am excited to be walking for such a worthy cause. Once again, I will be walking alongside my amazing brother-in-law, John Brooks (who is doing this Walk for the 33rd straight year!) and my fantastic sister, Lisa Jackson.
This year's walk will be another "Walk Your Way" virtual event and Lisa and I will meet up with John in Boston on Sunday, October 10th to walk part of the Boston Marathon route. We haven't determined the distance yet (that will be largely dependent on how I feel that day), but will be walking with utmost enthusiasm no matter how many miles we go.
My battle with pancreatic cancer has entered its 6th year and I'm back in chemotherapy after a 6 month stint in a clinical trial involving immunotherapy treatment. While it was disappointing that my tumors did not respond as hoped to the immunotherapy drugs, I remain hopeful that other trials might be available to me thanks to the tireless work of the doctors and researchers at Dana Farber.
There are SO many worthy causes out there to support, but almost all of us have been impacted by cancer whether it's battling it yourself or seeing a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker go through it. Donations of all amounts are appreciated and you can feel good knowing that every penny donated is helping a cancer patient out there.
Many thanks for contributing to my Walk!
With love and hope for a cure,
