This will be my 3rd year participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk.
It has been a crazy year for all of us, living day-to-day and not knowing what tomorrow will bring. Like everyone else, I have been so busy with many things that I haven't prepared for the walk or solicited donations. It has been a tough 2020, with us having lost 2 Dana Farber patients (Liza and Emily - both in their 50's) with whom I was acquainted. Their passing has profoundly reinforced for me how every moment in our lives are precious and fleeting. Yesterday, I was on the phone in the morning texting with my DFCI Volunteer friends, laughing at the funny exchanges and jokes that were going back and forth. One of my friends mentioned that she had a headache and the doctor wanted to see her the next day. By early afternoon, her doctor instead advised that she go to the ER that day. Just hours later she shared the devasting news that she has been diagnosed with brain cancer, with surgery scheduled for the next day. Initial reports are that the surgery was successful, but she will be challenged with having to learn how to walk and talk again. So next Sunday I am walking on behalf of these three women and ask for your support. In spite of the pandemic and everything else that is going on, people are still suffering from cancer and we need to provide the researchers and doctors with the funds to combat this disease. Thank you - Anne Marie
