This is Team Katie Bleck' 19th year walking
We recognize that this year has been a difficult one. Covid-19 has presented an unprecedented challenge for all, and more so for those children battling cancer. These children must worry about beating cancer and avoiding Covid-19 while their families deal with the emotional and financial stresses brought on by cancer and the pandemic. Our hope is that the Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund can alleviate some of the financial burden for graduating high school seniors attending college next year.
Since establishing the Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund, 178 scholarships have been awarded to graduating high school students treated for cancer at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Thanks to your many generous donations, we were able to triple the scholarship amount from $500 in 2003 to the current $1,500! We greatly appreciate all of our family, friends, co-workers, and corporate matching donations that make this possible. Be assured that 100% of donations flow directly to the Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund and are tax-deductible.
KATIE’S VISION
While a leukemia patient at Boston’s Children Hospital as a high school junior, my sister Katie expressed frustration that she was too ill to qualify for any academic scholarships. Katie believed that having a scholarship fund would help relieve college financial burden and give recipients recognition and hope for the future.
Join us!
To keep our community safe, the 2020 Jimmy Fund Walk will not follow routes along the Boston Marathon course. Instead, walkers will choose their own location to walk: your neighborhood, a local trail, a treadmill, your backyard—the options are endless! Please visit our team website to join our team or to make a donation.
