As many of you may know, each year for the last seven years I have participated in and raised money for the Jimmy Fund Walk. This walk is very near and dear to my heart as not one, but two very precious families to me have daughters who have been diagnosed and treated for leukemia. Charlotte was diagnosed when she was only three years old. Can you imagine that? I met her parents shortly after her diagnosis and I was in awe of how they handled this all the while caring for their other two younger children. Charlotte is 12 now and doing fabulous! Taylor, now almost 10-years old, was diagnosed a little more than 2 years ago and finished her treatment in March of this year. I get chills when I think back to the day that her mother got the call from the doctors office asking them to come straight to Children’s Hospital after Taylor had had bloodwork done. Their world was turned upside down. Can you imagine that? Luckily, Taylor is now on the other side of this and is doing incredibly well. In fact, if you look at these two beautiful girls today, you would never know what they went through. That’s because they both received life-saving treatment and unparalleled patient care at Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. The nurses and doctors at JFC treat the patients and their families so very special and make an unbearable situation somewhat tolerable. Both of these families cannot say enough about what JFC means to them and how truly thankful they are for everything that was done for their families during their children’s treatments.
On Sunday, September 22, Team Taylor and Charlotte will once again walk 13.1 miles from Wellesley to Boston. I am asking for your support, for your donation, to this very important cause. No amount is too insignificant.
Your support goes directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate care. Funds raised through the Jimmy Fund Walk enable Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting our team in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer.
