Thank you so much for visiting my Jimmy Fund Walk page! This will be my 3rd year in a row participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk. This year, as in the past, I am walking in memory and in honor of many family members, but most specifically my two grandfathers that passed this year, Mark Harris and Harry McKnight.
Dana Farber Cancer Institute played a central role in supporting my grandfather as he fought hard against a glioblastoma. They offered him the most cutting edge treatment options available and were there 24/7 for him to address whatever needs he had. Even after he stopped responding to treatments, his doctors, nurses, and other members of the neurology team frequently reached out to him to check in and lend support and give advice.
Although I miss my Grandpa Mark, I have so many great memories with him. Some of my favorite things I used to do with him were going to the playground, playing tag, eating lots of popcorn with him at the 99 restaurant, and eating lots of donuts and ice cream!
I am also walking in memory of my Grandpa McKnight who had Leukimia. Although he was not treated at Dana Farber, I hope that the money I raise will help people who have the rare form of Leukimia that he did.
Finally, I am walking to honor my grandmother, June McKnight, and my aunt, Karen Liljegren. Both women, with the support of Dana Farber, were able to beat cancer!
I hope you will consider making a contribution to my walk as all of your money will be put towards helping those fighting hard at Dana Farber as well as toward research that will help people in the future.
