On Sunday October 4th (in just a few days!), I will again be doing the 26.2-mile-long Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk to benefit cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
This is my 15th year, and I’m privileged to have Saghi walk with me for the 10th time (!). We’ll also be joined by Darya (her second year walking in honor of her grandmother, this year able to take some steps of her own) who is sure to boost our spirits.
The walk will be a bit different this year, with participants choosing their own routes in their own cities and neighborhoods. We’ll be walking around different parts of Toronto trying to simulate the typical Jimmy Fund Walk experience, and will miss seeing many of you tremendously.
As always, we walk in memory of my mother, Barbara, whose positivity, grit, and altruism will always inspire us. We continue to miss her more and more each day and as we pass life’s milestones. We also walk for our friend Matt Fritsch, who we lost much too early 5 years ago. His never-ending enthusiasm and kindness have left an indelible mark on so many. And of course we walk for all who are battling the disease now, too.
I know this is a difficult year for many, particularly financially, but charities such as the Jimmy Fund need our help more than ever to do their amazing work.
Thank you so much for your generous support!
